Here you’ll find a collection of concept art and character illustrations made from the start of this project in 2015 up until today. Many of the concepts were not final and there have been drastic style changes over time.

2023
The year of tragedy. Super Sad Squad projects came to a dead stop in 2023 after a series of personal setbacks took the wind out of our sails and sent the project on a hiatus. Little to nothing was accomplished this year, but we remain hopeful that this is not the end.
2022
A year of rest. 2022 was spent recharging out batteries and focusing up on physical and mental health. Writing began for Blank Verse Chapter 3.
2021
The year we got into printing. In 2021 Super Sad Studios purchased a bunch of equipment that allowed us to get into printing comics at home. We released Chapter Two and re-released Chapter One of Blank Verse in print this year - both of which were made by hand.
2020
The year of endurance. 2020 brought on unexpected and non-stop change. In order to keep Blank Verse alive we chose to convert it into a webcomic and managed to put out three new episodes during a global pandemic.
2019
The comeback year. As 2018 came to a close we had discovered new methods that not only improved the quality of the artwork but would accelerate progress instantly, empowering us to release Blank Verse in December of 2019.
2018
The most challenging year for Super Sad Studios. Progress on Blank Verse had come to a screeching halt and the challenge of seeing the project through was daunting. We needed a miracle and we found one at the end of 2018.
2017
The year of heavy experimentation. We quit using black and began trying out new tools and techniques. This was the year where Alex and Patrick’s backstory and personalities became firmly established.
2016
The year that Blank Verse started to take shape. Characters got fleshed out and the writing process started for a story involving them. New characters were added and a new style was introduced.
2015
The year it all began. The project started out as simple sketches done in between customers at work and catapulted into an everyday routine after the iPad Pro was released that September.
